Ranger Activities
- The Liverpool Ranger service was formed in 1993 to promote the
city's parks, open spaces and green environment for the citizens
and visitors alike. The role of the Ranger is mainly in
education and community, also covering conservation issues and
projects involving trees and woodlands, lakes, wildlife,
horticulture, natural and local history. To download the

Liverpool Farmers Markets - With over 30 stalls
with a wide range of produce the farmers Markets provide a
crucial income for the local farmers, growers, bakers and
brewers who sell at them. Farmers Markets are good for the
environment too, reducing packaging, storage, food miles and
therefore pollution. Farmers Markets are good for you because
the food is fresher and will not have been stored or transproted
for miles before you buy it.
Monument Square: 1st & 3rd Saturday of every month 9am - 2pm.
London Road
Woolton Village Farmers market – held on the 2nd Saturday of
every month on Allerton Road, Woolton.
Hope Street Farmers market – held on the 3rd Sunday of every
month on Hope Street – near to the suitcases and 60 Hope Street
restaurant.
Lark Lane Farmers market – held on the 4th Saturday of every
month on Lark Lane, Aigburth.
Farmers Markets provide fresh, safe, natuaral, nutritious
food that you can trust. Whether you are at home or away, there
will be a Farmers Market nearby to give you a real taste of the
surrounding countryside.

Croxteth Hall & Country Park heritage guides
will enhance your visit. Dressed in Edwardian costume,
they can tell you about the history of Croxteth Hall, the
Molyneux family and life above and below stairs. Our guides are
in the Hall every Sunday and Wednesday during the season.

Walk for Health Liverpool at Croxteth Hall &
Country Park - Work out with a walk Improve your health by going
for a short walk in the Park. Led by the HealthyWalks team - the
route is chosen to be suitable for the group taking part. The
walks go around ‘Cocked Hat Wood’ or other footpaths in the
Park.

Cycle for Health at Croxteth Hall & Country
Park Take a cycle ride around the scenic country park
(sessions last about 1 1/2 hours) and improve your health and
fitness at the same time! You don’t even need a bike! Working in
partnership with North Liverpool Primary Care Trust, this is a
new venture offering guided cycle rides with fully trained
leaders. All bikes and safety equipment are provided free of
charge.

Bicentenary of the Abolition of
Slavery - In March 2007 Liverpool commemorates
the passing of the Abolition of Slavery Bill by the British
House of Commons. Although not an end to the world wide practice
of slavery, it was an important landmark in the struggle to end
this barbaric practice.Eric Lynch, a pioneer of the Liverpool
Slavery Trail, lends his thirty years of experience to take you
on a tour of the sites in Liverpool linked with the triangular
Transatlantic trade.
Meet: Merseyside Maritime Museum, Albert Dock. A fee is
normally payable for these walks, but they will be offered free
of charge ONLY on the following dates; March 1st, 6th, 8th,
13th, 15th, 20th & 25th.

The Grand
National 2007 - The John Smith's Grand National
has thrilled for more than 159 years. Today, watched by 600
million worldwide, the race is still as exciting as ever,
drawing bigger attendances for the race meeting, year on year.
The 160th runing of the world famous race will take place at
Aintree Racecourse on Saturday 14th April 2007, with Opening Day
and Ladies' Day on the proceeding two days. |

Gala Opening of St Georges
Hall - A day-long series of celebrations
will mark the completion of the £23m refurbishment of one of
the word's finest examples of neo-classical architecture.
The highlights will be the re-opening of the stunning
Small Concert Room - in operation for the first time since

Knowsley Hall Music Festival

Kites Over The Mersey, The
Wirral Kite Festival - The 'Dips' at New
Brighton are again to be the venue for Wirral’s sixth annual
Kite Festival, featuring award winning guest fliers from all
over the country.
The event taking place from 11 am to 4.30pm is a two day
event for all the family with a variety of spectacular show
kites on display, including artistic kites, giant inflatable
kites, sports kites and power kites. There will also be a
kite-making workshop for all those have-a-go fliers! The cost
for the Kite Making workshop will be £1.00.

Heritage at the Heart of the
City - In 2007 Liverpool will be 800 years old.
Where better to celebrate this Year of Heritage than in
Liverpool, a city that has more museums and galleries than any
other regional city in Europe?
National Museums Liverpool has an exciting programme for 2007
which explores many aspects of Liverpool’s incredible history.
Among the most significant of the events is the opening of the
International Slavery Museum telling the story of the
transatlantic slave trade, the reopening of the Sudley House
featuring the only surviving Victorian merchant art collection
in Britain still hanging in its original location and a major
new exhibition, Magical History Tour, that charts the history of
this unique city.
At the Walker Art Gallery Doves and Dreams tells the tragic
story of two art nouveau artists working in Liverpool, in
addition the gallery will host exhibitions by sons of Liverpool
science fiction artist Josh Kirby and internationally renowned
maker Peter Chang.
